How to install Firefox 3 RC1 on Ubuntu Hardy.

You just need to add the following to your /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/fta/ubuntu hardy main

Then you only need to update (with apt-get update) and then upgrade (with apt-get dist-upgrade) or to install the firefox-3.0 package if you haven’t do it before.

  1. Thank you for this, I am to impatient to wait for the devs to update firefox ;)

  2. How do undo it?

  3. SomeGuy: Just remove that line in the /etc/apt/source.list and update: sudo apt-get update.

Then upgrade (if there is an updated package in the official repository sudo apt-get dist-upgrade) or uninstall and install:

    sudo apt-get remove firefox-3.0
    sudo apt-get install firefox-3.0

  4. Thanks!!!
